Georgia Peaches are the Best in the South, and now you can get them in Winston Salem!

Ever wondered why Georgia peaches are the best in the South, and did you know you can get them right here in Winston-Salem? People can’t get enough of these juicy, tree ripened peaches from Pearson Farms, and Popup Peach is thrilled to bring them to you!

Why Georgia Grows the Greatest Peach on Earth (Sorry, South Carolina)!

Every summer, a juicy debate ripens across the South. Folks argue over who really grows the best peach. And while we’ve got nothing but southern hospitality for our local friends in North and South Carolina, let’s just go ahead and say it loud for the people in the back:

Georgia peaches are better. Period.

It’s all in the dirt really. Georgia’s legendary red clay soil is rich in minerals, drains well, and helps produce incredibly flavorful fruit. Combine that with warm days, cool nights, and just the right touch of humidity, and you’ve got an environment that’s downright magical for stone fruit.

Meanwhile, South Carolina’s soil is sandier which means it's better for growing volume, but not necessarily better flavor. And flavor is what counts when you bite into a peach on a hot summer day.

Our peaches come from Pearson Farms and they are Peach Royalty if you ask us. Located in Fort Valley, GA, Pearson Farms has been perfecting the peach since 1885. For over five generations, the Pearson family has grown some of the finest fruit in the country with a passion and precision that few can rival. They even hold the record for growing the largest peach!

They specialize in over 30 varieties of peaches, each ripening at just the right moment for maximum sweetness and texture. It's not mass-produced. It's carefully cultivated, tree ripened, and packed with love, care, and pride.

These peaches are not ripened in the truck where many commercial growers tend to store their not-quite-ripe harvested peaches to extend shelf life. Not Pearson. Not Popup Peaches. These peaches stay on the tree longer, which gives them deeper sugars, fuller flavor, and better texture. They're picked in the morning and sent right up Interstate 20 to 77 to 40 into our commissary and popup peach stands within a days work. They're picked at peak perfection and arrive fresh from Georgia to our stand, no flavor or juiciness sacrificed!

The Taste Test Tells the Truth

Georgia Peaches offer deep, complex, sugary-smooth flavors with a dense, juicy, melt in your mouth texture. They offer an intense, floral aroma and an aftertaste that lingers clean and sweet.
South Carolina Peaches offer a mild, slightly watery flavor with a firm and less juicy texture. They offer a milder, more grassy aroma and a slight tartness in the aftertaste.

Overall Georgia Peaches are a dessert in and of themselves where as South Carolina Peaches come through just as a decent snack.

But these are More Than Just Peaches

When you buy a Georgia peach from Pearson Farms at our Winston-Salem stand, you’re not just biting into fruit—you’re tasting a legacy. You’re supporting a family farm, a southern tradition, and your own community who brought them to you.

Georgia peaches are not grown for quantity—they're grown for quality. And that quality is something we stand by, one sweet peach at a time.
